Meet Meladie Burke

Therapist, Mentor, and Connector

About Launch

Launch Counseling & Consultation was born from one simple truth: we need each other.

Through decades of life and professional experience, one theme has remained constant: humans are wired for connection. We are herd animals at heart: Built to belong, look after each other, and be part of the village.

Somewhere along the way, American individualism convinced us that strength means doing it all alone. But that’s just not the case. Growth doesn’t happen in isolation, it happens in community.

Launch Counseling & Consultation exists to restore community—and the role it plays in our wholeness. Our purpose is to move away from the individualist mindset and instead make sure therapists have the tools and support they need to flourish, so they can better support children, families, and clients in their communities.

At its core, Launch is a village. A place where there is always a seat for you. A promise that help, healing, and connection are never far away.

Mission

Our mission is to build a trusted community of helpers—therapists who, supported with the right tools and guidance—serve children, families, and caregivers with kindness, creativity and integrity.

Vision

A village where every child, family, and community member has access to skilled, supportive therapists. A place where help, healing, and connection are always within reach.

Therapist

Meladie has always been a teacher at heart. She began her career as a public school teacher and counselor, where she developed a unique insight into personal, cognitive, and social development. She discovered her calling in one-on-one counseling and small group therapy, where her greatest joy is equipping clients with tools that help them transform their lives for the better.

Today, she works with adults, parents, and families, specializing in training from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), play therapy, expressive arts, and mindfulness techniques. Her approach meets clients where they are, fostering self-exploration and resilience so they can move forward with confidence.

Mentor

Launching Meladie’s own private practice deepened her commitment not only to the art and science of psychotherapy, but also to the business of running a successful practice. As a practicing counselor, she understands the delicate balance between clinical work, professional boundaries, and business responsibilities--a skill she has refined over her decades of experience.

Ever grateful for the skilled clinicians who guided her early in her career, Meladie now offers consultation, supervision, and mentoring for counselors entering the field.  Her goal is to provide the same honesty, authenticity, and support that shaped her own professional journey.

Connector

Often described as a “connector”, Meladie moderates a professional listserv that helps colleagues share resources. She is constantly seeking new ways to link her therapist network with the wider community in meaningful ways. Her school counselor roots remain central to her vision: Her dream, as she puts it, is for everyone to have someone to sit with at the lunch table.

In addition to her work at Launch, Meladie continues to see clients through her private practice.

Outside of work, you’ll most often find Meladie hiking, quilting, crocheting, watching a historical drama—or practicing her Spanish.
